Technology is ubiquitous, touching almost every part of our
lives, our communities, our homes. Yet most schools lag far behind when it
comes to integrating technology into classroom learning. Many are just
beginning to explore the true potential tech offers for teaching and learning.
Properly used, technology will help students acquire the skills they need to
survive in a complex, highly technological knowledge-based economy.
Technology also changes the way teachers teach, offering
educators effective ways to reach different types of learners and assess
student understanding through multiple means. It also enhances the relationship
between teacher and student. When technology is effectively integrated into
subject areas, teachers grow into roles of adviser, content expert, and coach.
Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun.
I am really glad that I had the opportunity to be engaged with
and open to technology through Integrating Technology in
Education(educ560). Till now we are still stuck in the traditional
learning strategies and methodologies that constantly prove how crummy and trivial
it is. But it is time to start thinking outside the box and to give our
students the opportunity to follow the tracks of advancement and development.
Educ56o is a very interesting and advantageous course, through
which we had the opportunity to have a broad knowledge of how useful technology
could be to our students, and how we can mold all the high tech, favorable, and
recent methods and strategies of education, even within very humble resources,
to suit our teaching and our classrooms requirements.
During the past few weeks, we were taught the following: How to introduce ourselves online through:
How to write business cards
·
How to create scientific poster
·
How to create and use blogs
·
How to create and use web quests with our students
·
How to create and use VCTs in our classrooms.
I am looking forward for more
beneficial, interesting, and useful ways to integrate technology in my career
as a teacher, because I really believe that Technology lends itself as the
multidimensional tool that assists itself within the different life dimensions.
